“Understanding Marriage in our Culture”
(1 Corinthians 7:1-28)
I. If you are going to get married, live like you are married. (1 Corinthians 7:1-9)
- We were created with the capacity and desire for intimacy.
- When you enter into a marriage relationship, you are giving yourself to your spouse.
- Do not use intimacy as a weapon or a tool for leverage.
- When we abstain from intimacy, we open the door to temptation.
II. If you are going to get married, realize it is a lifelong commitment (1 Corinthians 7:10-16)
- God’s standard for marriage
- God’s instruction to believers married to unbelievers
- Stay with your unbelieving spouses.
- Your presence may be their only exposure to the gospel.
- If the unbelieving spouse leaves, you are not bound by that relationship.
III. If you are going to get married, know what you are getting into. (1 Corinthians 7:25-28)
