(1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

I. A fruitful past doesn’t guarantee a victorious future. (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)

1. God’s protection.
2. God’s provision.
3. God’s presence.

II. Learn from those who have gone before us. (1 Corinthians 10:5-10)

1. A lack of patience will always lead to idolatry.
2. A lack of discipline will always lead to immorality.
3. A lack of satisfaction will always lead to complaining.

III. Lessons for the present. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13)

1. Our warning: Be aware of self-confidence when it comes to sin.
2. Our promise: Jesus is our deliverer.
   • We will not be overtaken.
   • We will not be abandoned.
   • We will not be set up to fail.
   • We will always be given a way out.
