“Understanding the Sabbath”

(Exodus 20:8-11)

I. Jesus view of the sabbath? (Mark 2:23-28)

The Sabbath is God’s gift to His creation!

II. The Sabbath is our gift. (Exodus 20:8-11)

1. It is a gift of remembrance. (Exodus 16:11-12, 24-26)
2. It is a gift of re-creation. (Leviticus 25:1-6, 20-22) (Mark 6:30-32)
3. It is a gift of redemption. (Hebrews 4:8-13)

III. How do I practically apply the 4th commandment.

1. Set aside a Sabbath day to remember and to rest.
2. Your Sabbath day should be a day that is set apart for the Lord.
3. Teach your children the meaning and importance of the Sabbath.
4. Make sure that you have entered the Sabbath rest that Jesus provides.
