“Understanding the Incarnation”

(Phillippians 2:5-8)

Last week, we learned that Jesus existed at the beginning of the beginning with God and He is God. In a point in time, Jesus did something that would change all of humanity.

I. Jesus considered creation. (vs. 6)

1. Jesus existed in the form of God.
2. He considered creation.

II. Jesus voluntarily took action. (vs. 7)

1. He emptied Himself.
   • He emptied Himself of the prerogatives and privileges of His deity.
   • He emptied Himself of independent authority.
2. He took on another nature.
3. He took on another form.
